My name is Alexandria Cummings, but my friends call me Alex, Al or AC. I am a small-batch ceramicist living and working in Portland, Oregon, with my two dogs, Curry and Snacks.

I studied art education and ceramics at Western Michigan University focusing on process, firing techniques and sculptural objects. With this formal education, a passion for exploration and the desire to make useful things led me to making mugs and bowls for the every day.

I hand throw functional objects that are meant to be enjoyed day in and day out. Inspired by color, I experiment marrying the brightness of the rainbow with the simplicity of neutrals, and apply this balance to modern, yet simple shapes and forms.

Each unique piece embraces the handmade nature and quality of small-batch ceramics, where slight variations in size, form, color and finish are all welcome and appreciated. All pieces are thrown on the wheel or hand-built and glazed by hand.
